About the Association
“IDDU Canada” is a cultural and philanthropic association which consists of Ibadan indigenes who interact and share a sense of unity because of a common ethnic, ancestral, generational or regional identity. One of the primary goals and objectives of the association is to render help and assistance to Ibadan indigenes (home and abroad) in all areas of their needs and give back to Ibadan as a whole through our long term and short terms projects.” IDDU stands for the unity and strength of Ibadan descendants in the diaspora.
Our members belong to various professional background and have built amongst themselves a strong and committed relationship various socio-cultural activities, monthly meetings, picnics, festivals etc.
We are committed to supporting our communities at large by organizing seminars and other educative programs. Our vision at IDDU is to be the leading social-cultural and philanthropic organization in Canada.
The following are a few of the overall objectives of IDDU;
- To relieve poverty in Ibadan and Canada by providing food and other basic supplies to persons in need in alliance with renown charitable organizations.
- To promote public health in Ibadan and Canada by educating and instructing the public on prevention of health problems and curative measures
- To establish and operate an employment training center for needy, unemployed, and low-skilled workers and provide assistance on drafting resumes, job search and interview.
- To relieve poverty in Ibadan and Canada by providing food and other basic supplies to persons in need in alliance with renown charitable organizations.
- To provide education, counseling and other support services for immigrants and refugees in need, including language instruction, employment training, job search programs, translation services and information programs on Canadian culture and life.
- To promote the interest of Ibadan city, both in Canada and in Nigeria and cherish, uphold, promote and protect the honor and dignity of Ibadan City culture, language, and tradition in Canada.
- To work together with other Nigerian organizations inside and outside of Canada, to promote peace, stability, justice, good governance and unity among Nigerians in general.
- To advance education by providing classes on the subjects of coping with the various forms of abuse and bullying in school, online and social media.
- To provide assistance to needy persons by providing job-skills training, drafting resumes, searching for employment, preparing for job interviews, computer training, time management and budgeting.
- To relieve conditions associated with disability by providing life management counselling and other supportive services to individuals living with disabilities to become and remain more independent in the community.
- To undertake activities ancillary and incidental to the attainment of the above mentioned charitable purposes.
